It is so important that brave veterans live the safe, rewarding later life they deserve, and with your support we have helped so many achieve just that.
Now, we have exciting plans to convert the former RAF Association Eastbourne Branch Club building into Bader House, 10 safe, supportive, independent living apartments.
Set to open in May 2027, the development will create a ready-made supportive community for some of our most vulnerable RAF veterans.

Velma, aged 90, moved into Rothbury House in early 2025. She previously lived in a care home with her husband John, a Second World War RAF veteran. Unfortunately their health deteriorated and meant they could no longer travel abroad, so a friend recommended a respite break at RAF retirement accommodation at Rothbury House. The couple became regular visitors, and after John sadly passed away, Velma chose to return to live there. Velma explains, “Rothbury is a great place to be because you’ve got other people around you and you’re not on your own, but you can have your own private life as well. It’s the best of both worlds.”
It’s likely Velma could be living alone if it wasn’t for our purpose built RAF retirement accommodation. And that’s exactly why we need your support today. Places like Rothbury House – and the new Bader House – can be life-changing for RAF veterans and their families.
“I think a place in Eastbourne would be great. I would imagine it would be very popular. I don’t think there is anything like that down there at the moment, especially for RAF veterans” said Velma.
For Velma, living in a facility like Rothbury House, among like-minded people with an RAF connection is priceless.
“I wouldn’t want to live anywhere where I’d be on my own. I don’t want to move from here now. I’m 90-years-old and I’d like to spend the rest of my life here.”

Through five independent living complexes across the UK, we support hundreds of residents each year, helping them live safely, independently, and with dignity. But we can’t do it alone.
